Pit: “Future” is the title of the multimedia spatial installation by Karoline Schneider/Krawcec – a mining site for information on Sorbian/Wendish identities. A groping for futures with fingers covered in coal dust. In the pit, ancestral narratives, patriarchal Christian traditions, and multilayered, entangled subjects lie atop one another – in between, Sorbian/Wendish communication.The artist has gathered voices from both parts of Lusatia to approach Sorbian/Wendish futures—futures that have been limited for centuries—through community. In the exhibition, augmented reality expands the image in space, making the protagonists audible. During the exhibition period, we meet at the edge of the pit—to discuss and watch films about queer realities in minority cultures, extractivism, and resilience
Grube: „Zukunft“ ist der Titel der multimedialen Rauminstallation von Karoline Schneider/Krawcec – ein Abbaugebiet für Informationen über sorbische/wendische Identitäten. Ein Tasten nach Zukünften mit von der Kohle staubigen Fingern. In der Grube liegen Erzählungen von Ahnen, patriarchale christliche Traditionen und vielschichtig verknotete Subjekte übereinander – dazwischen sorbisch/wendische Verständigung. Die Künstlerin hat Stimmen aus beiden Teilen der Lausitz gesammelt, um sich über Gemeinschaft sorbisch/wendischen Zukünften anzunähern – Zukünften, die seit Jahrhunderten limitiert sind. In der Ausstellung erweitert Augmented Reality das Bild im Raum, und die Protagonist*innen werden hörbar. Während der Ausstellung treffen wir uns am Grubenrand – zum Diskutieren und zum Filme schauen über queere Realitäten in Minderheitenkulturen, Extraktivismus und Resilienz.
